How is Kangen water created from tap water?

Not all water is created equal. What comes out of the tap undergoes a two-stage process in the Enagic water ionizer, fundamentally changing it before it flows from the drain as Kangen Water.

Step 1: Filtration

First, the tap water is purified. An internal high-grade filter removes chlorine, unwanted taste and odor, and reduces deposits down to 0.005 mm. The built-in activated carbon filter goes a step further: It binds heavy metals and additional chlorine without filtering out the water's natural minerals. The result is clean, mineral-rich water as a starting point.

Step 2: Electrolysis

In the second step, the filtered water passes through several electrode plates and membranes. There, it is separated into its components by electrolysis:

  • At the cathode (the negatively charged electrode), hydroxide ions (OH⁻) and molecular hydrogen (H₂) are produced. The water becomes more alkaline in this area.

  • Oxygen (O₂) and hydrogen ions (H⁺) are produced at the anode (the positively charged electrode). The water becomes more acidic here.

Membranes cleanly separate the two types of water. The alkaline water, Kangen water, is collected through a separate hose and is ready for drinking. The acidic water is collected separately and can be used, for example, for skin cleansing or as a natural disinfectant.

The result

What comes out of the device is no longer ordinary tap water. It's filtered, electrolyzed water with an increased pH level, enriched molecular hydrogen, and intact minerals. Simply put: Kangen water is tap water that has been improved at the molecular level.
